Also repels silverfish from bookcases. Place a few drops on an absorbent card and place in infested area, dab on cloth hangers or pep up existing moth-repellent bags.

Agonis Fragrans

This South West Australian native is a rare and new addition to the essential oil industry. Its high 1,8-cinieole and penetrating nature indicates how well it opens up our breath and the flow of life force. It is quite gentle and can be used instead of Tea Tree where sensitivities occur.

Aroma: Top note

Perfume: Hot, penetrating and head-clearing. Fresh, cleansing scent with that hint of mint on a mountain breeze promising freedom.

Blends well with: Eucalyptus and pine.

Indications: anti-inflammatory, decongestant, immune booster, anti-microbial, analgesic, regulates body clock, hormone balancer.

Myristica fragrans

Nutmeg was a much prized spice used throughout history, for numerous medications and also in cooking - including desserts, baking, hot drinks and liqueurs. The essential oil is steam distilled from the worm-eaten nutmeg seed (the worms eat the starch and fat in the seed) to obtain a sweet, warm-spicy scent with a terpene-like top note. Brings warmth and energy and assuages aches when used in liniments and massage blends. Great for a happy gut – stimulating, eases gas, breaks down starch and fats. Stimulating and warming to the chest.

Aroma: Middle Note.

Perfume: Fresh, spicy top note and deep, sweet, warm and woody undertones. Somewhat musky.

Blends well with: lavender, rosemary, black pepper, clary-sage, eucalyptus, ginger, geranium, pettigrain and ylang ylang. Also with the sweeter citrus oils and other spice oils.

Melaleuca cajuputi / leucadendron

The Cajeput (or Cajuput) oil from the paperbark tree is often called ‘white tree’ oil and is closely related to other members of the melaleuca family including eucalyptus, clove, tea tree and niaouli. It is native to South East Asia and Australia, although the oil is rarely processed in this country.

Aroma: Top Note.

Common Names: Paper Bark tree, white tea tree, white wood, swamp tea tree, Cajeput M. minor, Melaleuca Cajeputi, Cajuput.

Perfume: A medicinal, slightly camphorous scent both herbaceous and penetrating, reminiscent of eucalyptus. There is a faint sweetness born from a mild fruity middle note.

Blends well with: bergamot, clove, geranium, lavender, niaouli, nutmeg, rose and thyme.
